On last night’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy, “Transplant Wasteland,” little Avery gets all grown up and the attendings and fellows are forced to fall in line.

Dr. McDreamy had one more thing to say last night that further proves his complexity and it was simply, “I’m sorry.” As for Jackson Avery though, tasked with righting the ship that is Seattle Grace, excuse me, Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, well done young one.
I’ve been ranting about the lack of medical focus of this show and it looks like Shonda Rhimes heard my cries. Thankfully, Transplant Wasteland was as negative a connotation as it sounded. Things were quickly spiraling out of control once Jackson took over, Derek screamed at Owen and Owen decided to quit, but after 3 surgeons failed at taking charge of themselves, it was the plastics surgeon that saved the day. Yes the hospital has great hospitals, but all it’s ever needed was a great leader. That died when Weber stepped down as chief, but perhaps now it can be returned to its full glory.
But for how long? A new name is great but putting Owen back in charge is great for morale, but if we’re addressing the elephant in the room, he was the axis point for where things started to fall apart. He seems to always crumble under the pressure, which seems like an unlikely flaw for his character considering his back story as a field surgeon during the Iraq War–or perhaps it’s exactly the opposite. We’ll see how things pan out when he comes back next week. Back to the medicine.
A domino transplant, kidney transplant and Death by Cardio donor all in one night. It was like an electric shock to the system that is, or was, Seattle Grace. Of course there was plenty of administrative squabbles sprinkled throughout the show, but at least it’s getting back to its roots. Twisted medicine and even more twisted love stories (don’t worry Kerev, we noticed your valiant, pick-me-instead apology).
Now that things seem to be in their rightful place, and the hospital is officially run by doctors, lets see what kind of crazy medicine this batch can draw up in the next few episodes.
